About

Welcome to Vocal Point, your gateway to an exciting communication journey! My name is Andrea “Andi” Gurba, and I am an ASHA certified and NJ Licensed Speech Language Pathologist. I am thrilled to share my passion for communication and the work I do to help individuals find their voices. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Stockton University and went on to obtain my Master of Science from Nova Southeastern University. My journey in the world of speech pathology has been incredibly fulfilling, and I have had the privilege of receiving specialized training that enhances my practice. I am PROMPT trained and hold a certificate in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) from Stockton University. Additionally, I have extensive training in the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Applied Behavior Analysis. Over the last 16 years of my career, I have had the opportunity to work with individuals across the lifespan, but my true passion lies in working with young children. I have spent the bulk of my time in self-contained and integrated preschool classrooms, as well as with elementary-aged students. My focus has been on addressing a wide range of challenges, including Articulation/Phonological Disorders, Fluency, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Expressive and Receptive language disorders, and various communication impairments. One aspect of my work that I find profoundly rewarding is providing ongoing training and funding support to families whose children may require communication devices. Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC), is very close to my heart as I have helped to provide and support many children and their families with the ability to communicate! There is nothing more inspiring than watching a child discover their voice and communicate with confidence. It’s a transformative experience that reinforces the importance of what I do and motivates me every day. Recently, I embarked on an incredible journey to explore research based techniques to support public speakers. Whether the CEO of a company, college student, or someone who aspires to feel more comfortable and confident speaking in front of others, my approach will support a speakers ability to make an impact on their audience. Outside of my professional life, I am a proud wife and mom to an amazing husband and two incredible kids. Together, we share a love for swimming, snowboarding, playing Uno, and enjoying movie nights as a family. These moments remind me of the joy of communication in our everyday lives. In my spare time, I also enjoy cooking, exercising, reading, and diving into podcasts that discuss the latest developments in the speech-language field. These interests keep me engaged and informed, allowing me to bring fresh insights into my practice. Throughout my experiences in work, marriage, and parenthood, I have come to understand that communication can be a challenge for many of us, regardless of age or cognitive ability. That’s why I believe it’s crucial for us to tackle these challenges together. I am dedicated to offering ongoing family support, helping parents and caregivers learn how to collaborate effectively to support their learners. This journey, though it may have its hurdles, can also be a beautiful and rewarding one. I am excited to embark on this communication journey with you! Together, we can navigate the challenges and celebrate the triumphs along the way. Let’s make strides in communication, one step at a time! Looking forward to working with you soon!
